Teaching Experience & Training
Simon is an experienced and passionate teacher. He has over a decade of experience teaching students of all ages and skill levels. After graduating the AMEB grading system as a pianist, Simon went on to become a certified singing teacher with Speech Level Singing and the Institute for Vocal Advancement. He has undergone training with leading teachers and musicians from New York, Vancouver, Moscow, Las Vegas, Perth and Melbourne. As a professional musician, Simon also brings real life performing experiences to every lesson.
Industry Performance Experience
Simon estimates he has played close to 1000 performances. He has worked as a professional musician around the country, overseas, sailing on cruise ships and played to audiences of thousands of people.
His career has seen him employed professionally as an accompanist, musical director in theatre, choral conductor, pit musician in opera and musical theatre, ballet and contemporary dance repetiteur, keyboardist and vocalist in rock bands, cabaret pianist, jazz pianist, drummer, percussionist, trumpet player, guitarist and orchestral conductor.
The Simon D’Aquino piano vocal studio was established in 2011 as Simon’s full time teaching space. The home studio is designed specifically to cater for piano and vocal lessons. It is fitted with a 121cm Alex Steinbach upright piano, Yamaha Clavinova, acoustic guitar, microphones, PA system, student iPad and adjacent waiting room.
Simon brings his experience and training into every lesson to help students reach their full potential.
