Even the greatest artists in the world have a well-regarded, supportive singing teacher by their side. Helping to iron out any inconsistencies or problems they may have, these professionals allow for students to maximise their voices and remove limiting habits.
A singing teacher with a refined process
Simon uses a proven suite of exercises that are designed to help you with breaks and cracks in your voice, strains and pain when pushing for big notes, and fatigue after singing for an extended period of time. These exercises are tailored each lesson helping students achieve a balanced, beautiful and powerful sounding voice. Through training, anyone can learn to sing the songs they enjoy with a nice sounding voice.
The technique involves balancing airflow and vocal cord action, whilst maintaining a resting larynx. This method is based upon speech level singing techniques and has been trusted by over 120 Grammy award winners. Simon has spent years studying from some of the best teachers around the world to learn these techniques and is able to improve beginners or advanced singers voices from the very first lesson. The vocal techniques Simon teaches can be utilised across all styles from rock/pop, musical theatre, and classical.
Our singing lesson structure
The first half of each session is allocated to exercises in order to continuously improve your voice. Then, in the second half students can join in with the song of their choice.
Students actively asked to record lessons each week so they have an up to date set of exercises that will help them build their voice over the week. Regular practice to the exercises around the house, in the car or in the studio is vital to long term development. All students generally see improvement from the very first lesson and this is compounded with practice.
Learn to sing with an instrument
For some, singing comes naturally – until an instrument is involved. It is common for artists to only have recordings to practice with at first, rather than live musicians. Learning timing and how to gel with live instrumentation is a skill in itself.
As an experienced singing teacher and pianist in Preston, Simon offers the chance for you to prepare for your exam, audition or recital with him playing alongside you on the piano or guitar, helping you prepare for your big moment. Performance and audition coaching
As your dedicated vocal coach, Simon’s experience can help you to improve your performance skills. Solid technique is a good start, but developing musical styling, introducing the right levels of emotion into your voice and building performance skills are also integral.
There is a performance for every student to aspire to, with the studio holding an annual concert for them to showcase their new abilities.
